The Broom 30 is one of the best boats for cruising our inland waterways, they are stable, easy to handle, and hold their course well. This one is no exception and is powered by reliable and economical 4 cylinder Perkins diesel. The isle of may is in fantastic original condition it is obvious to see she has been very well maintained and there are records to back this up. Perfect family boat with 6 spacious berths across 3 separate cabins, 2 toilets. (one of the toilets has a spacious stand up shower) warm air heating system, aft upper deck with 2 loungers
With twin cabins this boat is ideal for friends and family to share. The forward cabin has Vee berths with traditional and servicable cushions. Under the berths are two spacious lockers and draw units all in a Mahogany veneer finish which has been maintained to a high standard.
The forward cabin has its own en suite facility, with a manual sea toilet and wash basin, chrome towel rail and mahogany shelf. The interior is in a bright hygienic white Formica type finish making cleaning very easy.
Adjacent to this facility is a full length door allowing easy access to behind the helm position to the steering gear, engine controls, electrical control panels. Also the main 240 volt supply circuit breaker can be located in this cupboard.
Stepping up into the wheelhouse and main saloon area you will find it spacious with plenty of room to dine and entertain. With ample seating the dinning table can be mounted by the simple insertion of the table support into the floor area, which the table top then mounts onto. The very same seating can be cleverly extended to convert it into a double bed the seating in this area all have locker space underneath. All soft furnishing in saloon/wheelhouse have be finished in a blue velour material and a matching curtains and blue carpet.
The helm possition is cleverly set back into the dash panel so as not to protrude into the saloon area and a fold up helm seat can be placed in position to make it more confortable for the longer cruises. With a full 360 degree view all around it makes for easier handling and steerage of this truly classic boat.
On the port side within the saloon there is a built in storage display unit to mount the TV on if you choose to have one.
Moving towards the stern, down a few steps we enter into the galley area with the two burner /oven cooker in timeless enamel finish, adjacent is the fridge and stainless steel sink set into the white formica type galley unit. Windows are drop back type allowing good ventilation. Also around the galley you will find various storage rack/shelf units with the main storage cupboard under the galley unit along with draw space.
To the starboard side is the main shower and toilet facility all in the traditional wipe clean surface this allows for this room to be used as a wet room with a built in self draining shower tray covered with a hardwood floor grill.
Throughout the boat there are 240 volt power sockets for when you are hooked up to mains at you moorings.
From the galley, through into the stern cabin which has single berths set on either side of a dressing table unit which has storage cupboards to the left and right hand sides, each bed has its own storage locker and draw unit and built in the bulk head is a full height wardrobe.
A general comment about the Isle Of May is that it has been lovingly maintained by its present family which reflects in its condition.
